Maternal Mental Health

Pregnancy

The transition into motherhood and fatherhood isn't just a phase; it's an opportunity for profound growth and connection. Going to therapy during pregnancy can help you balance the delicate dance between letting go of the familiar and establishing structures that create lasting stability for yourself and your evolving family. My approach aims at not only adapting to this huge life change – but thriving in it. I’d love to work with you towards a transformative journey where agency, stability, and connection build a foundation for future generations!

Postpartum

I work with Moms and birthing people after the baby is born to help them integrate their new identity and the challenges of motherhood. The physical and mental load of motherhood can be overwhelming and exhausting. All of a sudden, you have the demands of the new baby, and your time is cut in half. Sometimes, there can be a loss of who you feel you are without a sense of how to reclaim yourself. Sometimes, you can feel ashamed of not enjoying this time with your baby because it’s so demanding. Sometimes, you can feel less connected to your partner. I understand how challenging this transition can be for individuals and couples. I will offer a safe space to help clients navigate this new role and identify ways to reduce stress and create harmony by identifying tools that emphasize nervous system regulation and normalize complicated feelings. What will refuel you? What help do you need to work through the mental load of parenting? What will ground you during a postpartum identity crisis? We will work to find what this transition means to you and what you need from the relationships closest to you. Learning methods of being there for yourself will assist you in being there for your children as they continue to grow up.

Parents (toddlers to teens)

Parenthood is a heroic journey. Maternal burnout is common, but it doesn’t have to be your story. Exploring how you feel about yourself and your relationship with your children is a worthwhile pursuit at any age! As your children get older, their transitions from preschool to adolescence continue to impact your life, your relationships, and your understanding of what it means to be a parent. Therapy can help you navigate this and discover mindfulness and self-compassion so you can be with your children as they navigate the complexity of growing up.

Infertility

Some people face challenges in conceiving that can be emotionally taxing while embarking on the journey to parenthood. From fertility struggles to navigating complexities in family relationships, I will provide a warm and supportive environment for individuals and couples alike. Whether you're seeking therapy during the process of IVF treatments or grappling with infertility, I will be your dedicated companion. Grief may be present. Together, we will meet the challenges of pregnancy with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to supporting your unique path.

Ambivalence or Childfree

There can be many reasons why someone does not have children. I offer a safe space to explore and process what this means for you so you can own your decision about what is best for you and your family unit.

Menopause

Perimenopause and menopause mark the final years of a woman’s reproductive experience - a transition that can take many years. During this time, women can be at higher risk for developing anxiety and depression. I offer a space safe to process and explore this often-overlooked transition.

Mothers and Daughters

I work with adult moms and daughters to heal conflict and help with communication. We create space for the mother to understand her impact on her daughter, and I work with the daughter to acknowledge and support more of who she is today. Together, we can create a space of connection that can support both mother and daughter as they grow older and continue to face life transitions.
